Duo involved in Tohana robbery case held after encounter
Hisar: The police have apprehended two accused following an encounter on Saturday morning in connection with the robbery at a grocery store near the Tohana bus stand. Both accused sustained bullet injuries to their legs during the encounter, and were admitted to Agroha Medical College for treatment. The arrested men were identified as Monu alias Moni, a resident of Tilak Nagar, Tohana, and Kamal alias Bachchi, a resident of Geeta Colony, Tohana. Police said Monu had seven criminal cases registered against him, while Kamal was involved in two previous cases. One accused in the case was earlier arrested after he suffered a fracture in his leg while attempting to run away from the police.
Fatehabad superintendent of police Siddhant Jain said the robbery took place on the evening of Feb 4 at Gaurav Trading Company, located in front of the Tohana bus stand. Shop owner Dheeraj Mehta was present when three youths arrived on a motorcycle, brandished a pistol, threatened him with dire consequences, and demanded cash. Fearing for his life, the shopkeeper handed over around Rs 1.5 lakh. The accused allegedly fired shots in the air before fleeing. Following the incident, teams from CIA Tohana and City Police Station, Tohana, launched an investigation. On Feb 5, 1 accused, Udit, a resident of Tohana, was arrested after he fell and fractured his leg while trying to escape. During interrogation, he revealed the involvement of two accomplices.Police intensified the search after accused Kamal alias Bachchi allegedly posted a threatening message related to the robbery on his Instagram account. Based on technical surveillance and inputs, police tracked their movement.On Feb 7, the CIA Tohana team received information that the two accused were roaming near Town Park, Tohana, on a motorcycle. When police attempted to stop them, the accused opened fire on the police vehicle. Police retaliated in self-defence, injuring both accused in their legs. "Both were first taken to Civil Hospital, Tohana, and later referred to Agroha Medical College, Agroha, for further treatment," the police said.
