CM for zero waiting time for diagnostics in medical colleges
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed the health department to propose measures to ensure a zero waiting period for diagnostic services in medical colleges across the state. The directive came during a review meeting of senior health officials held Monday evening. Emphasising the need to strengthen health care delivery, the CM asked officials to explore the feasibility of establishing an integrated Mother and Child Hospital at Indira Gandhi Medical College here.A committee, headed by secretary Ashish Singhmar, has been constituted to identify a suitable space within the IGMC premises for setting up the facility. The move is aimed at providing comprehensive care under one roof.Sukhu said the govt was focused on equipping health institutions with advanced, high-end diagnostic machines and ensuring adequate staffing to improve patient care. He underlined that upgrading diagnostic services was crucial, as timely and accurate diagnosis forms the backbone of effective treatment. The CM further noted that the govt was actively filling vacancies in medical, paramedical and technical categories to address workforce gaps in health care institutions. He said health and education remained top priorities of his govt, with significant investments being made to bring systemic improvements."There is no shortage of funds for these critical sectors," Sukhu said, adding that the govt was implementing major reforms to ensure accessible and quality health care services for the people.MSID:: 130826057 413 |
