Another pleasant spell ahead for Chandigarh
Chandigarh: Just days after recording its coldest May day ever, with the mercury dropping to 25.3°C, Chandigarh is set for another spell of relatively pleasant weather. The Meteorological Centre has forecast rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds over the next two days.
On Wednesday, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 38.1°C and a minimum of 24.6°C, both slightly below normal for early June.
According to the forecast, partly cloudy skies with light rain and thunderstorms are expected on June 4 and 5, followed by clearer conditions over the subsequent three days. Daytime temperatures are likely to stay below the 40°C mark over the next five days — hovering around 38°C on June 4, dipping to 37°C on June 5 and 6, and inching up to 38°C on June 7. Night temperatures are expected to remain between 24°C and 26°C.
The weather department has also issued a warning of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40–60 kmph at isolated places between June 4 and 5. Residents have been advised to exercise caution during storm activity and avoid taking shelter under trees or near unstable structures.
From June 8 onwards, conditions are expected to improve, with mainly clear skies returning and temperatures gradually climbing, potentially touching 39°C.
