5 farm outfits to start ‘morcha’ against pollution from Feb 3

Farmers in five different organizations have decided to start a "morcha" (demonstration) against water shortages, pollution, and the federal structure of Punjab in February. A convention was held in Chandigarh on Friday to prepare the ground for the proposed front, and a call was given to the Punjabis to come forward and make efforts to save the water and environment. Farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal gave the clarion call to save water environment and the federal system.

Bathinda: Five farmer organisations – BKU (Rajewal), All India Kisan Federation, Kisan Sangharsh Committee (Punjab), BKU (Mansa) and Azad Kisan Sangharsh Committee – have decided to start a “morcha” against water crisis, pollution and attack on the federal structure of the state, at Chandigarh from February 3.
A convention was held here on Friday to prepare the ground and mobilise people for the proposed front.

A call was given to the Punjabis to come forward and make efforts to save the water and environment, which is the life line of people, as successive governments had failed to address these basic issues and political parties used these to only garner votes.
Farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal, giving clarion call to save water, environment and the federal system, said water issue had been complicated by the political parties for their vote bank politics. tnn
