2 Bambiha gang members held with pistols, cartridges

CHANDIGARH: The operations cell of the police has arrested two gang members of Davinder Bambiha gang and recovered a .9 mm pistol, a country-made pistol and 10 live cartridges.

Police said the two accused are Sahil, a resident of Kharar, and Jimmy Bansal of Burail, Sector 45. A police team arrested Sahil from near the Circus Ground in Sector 17 on a tip-off on Monday night and recovered a sophisticated weapon along with eight live cartridges and one magazine from him. The next day, a court remanded him to police custody for three days.

Cops said Sahil had given one weapon to his friend Bansal, who was later arrested with a country-made pistol.

Earlier this month, the operations cell of the police had arrested five members of the gang allegedly plotting to kill popular Punjabi singers Babbu Maan and Mankirat Aulakh and recovered four pistols and 24 live cartridges from them.

Police had also claimed one of the accused was told to collect an AK-47 rifle to eliminate the two singers by a gang member from Canada.

The Bambiha gang is being run by Lucky Patial from abroad. He keeps in touch with his aides and members through WhatsApp and social media platforms, while directing them to extort money from businessmen, owners of hotels and nightclubs and singers. These accused were mainly in touch with Canada-based Prince Kurali, a close aide of Patial.

Cops said Prince had called up one of the arrested accused and asked him to pick up an AK-47 rifle that he had arranged to avenge the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala by killing Mankirat Aulakh and Babbu Maan from Jammu and Kashmir.
