CUTTACK: It seems the glitz and glamour of
IPL is no longer attracting the cricket buffs in the state. At least the poor turnout of buyers at the ticket counters for the April 22 match scheduled to be played between team Hyderabad and team Kolkata at Barabati stadium reflects this possibility. Just a day is left for the match but only 60 per cent of the tickets have been sold so far.
Tickets are being sold at 14 counters in the twin cities, Cuttack and Bhubaneswar and online too, but the sale is not at all impressive.
"Till Friday, only 25,000 tickets have been sold for the April 22 match,"said Sanjib Dutta, joint secretary of Odisha Cricket Association (OCA). Sources said out of 43,190 seats in total, 34,932 tickets had been released for public sale and the rest are reserved for OCA, team Hyderabad and Bofficials.
Team Hyderabad will play against
Shahrukh Khan's Kolkata team on April 22 and the Bollywood star is expected to reach Cuttack to cheer his team, but even King Khan's magic is failing to draw people to the ticket counters. "We expected that Shahrukh Khan's presence would add a glamour quotient to the IPL match and ensure house-full stadium, but it seems the superstar's charisma is also not driving people to the ticket counters," said an OCA official.
The poor sale of tickets has also created concern among the officials of OC A and team Hyderabad.
