BHUBANESWAR: BJD’s

Rajya Sabha

MP Amar Patnaik is among the 11 chosen for

Sansad Ratna

award by a committee chaired by Union minister of state for parliamentary affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwal.

The jury committee of eminent parliamentarians and civil society, chaired by Meghwal and co-chaired by former chief election commissioner T S Krishnamurthy, nominated eight LS and three RS MPs for Sansad Ratna awards 2022, a statement by Prime Point Foundation said.

From Rajya Sabha, Amar and

Fauzia Tahseen Ahmed Khan

(NCP, Maharashtra) have been nominated for their performance in 2021 under ‘sitting members’ category. K K Ragesh (CPM, Kerala) was nominated for the award under the ‘retired members in 2021’ category for his outstanding performance during his full term in Rajya Sabha.

“I accept the honour with utmost humility and gratefulness. While doing so, I am conscious of the fact that for a people and state representative in Parliament, the highest and the best award/reward comes from the people. It is their continuing love and affection that acts as the best reward,” Amar said.

Sansad Ratna award was instituted on the suggestion of former President APJ Abdul Kalam to honour the top performing parliamentarians.
