However, this year, the pass percentage in the class X result has gone down by 5.22%. This year, 61.32% students were declared passed as against 66.54% students last year. Expressing concern over the poor pass percentage, chief secretary SR Mohanty, ex-chairman of MPBSE, has blamed the NCERT for the decline in result. “We will study as to why the result has come down as compared to that of last year," he said. He added that making NCERT books compulsory might be one of the reasons for this.
This year, 144 students have secured place in the top ten merit list. All three top ranks were bagged by students from Sagar district. Incidentally, last year, there were 180 students in the top ten merit list.
The third position in the state went to six students scoring 496 out of 500 and aggregating 99.2 per cent. They are Mahima Namdeo (Sagar), Harsh Kumar (Sagar), Khushboo Chaube (Damoh), Priyanshu Jain (Mandsaur), Rajkumar Soni (Agar Malwa) and Sakshi Patel (Burhanpur).
