Missing man’s body with blunt injuries found near Bhopal bypass
Bhopal: The decomposed body of a 37-year-old man missing since May 24 was found in bushes near a culvert on Gyarah Meel Bypass, Jhagariya, under Katara Hills police station limits on Friday night.
Police identified the deceased as Rajesh Rai, a resident of Satlapur, Mandideep. He worked with a private company and did night duty as a security guard at a Misrod colony.
According to Katara Hills SHO Sunil Dubey, Rajesh left home on his scooter around 7 pm on May 24 but never returned. His family lodged a missing complaint at Satlapur police station.
A police team recovered the body after locals reported it lying near a culvert beyond a private university on the road to Bilkhiria. Clothes were torn and the body appeared to have been exposed for 4-5 days. Identity documents and Rajesh’s last attendance marked at the colony were found at the spot.
The short post-mortem report noted ante-mortem injuries caused by a hard, blunt object. Exact cause of death will be confirmed after the detailed autopsy report. Police have not ruled out foul play and are probing all angles, including murder and road accident. Locals said a scooter was parked near the spot for two days before disappearing. Police suspect it was stolen and the phone kept in the dickey was switched off, halting location updates.
The last location of Rajesh’s mobile was traced to the recovery site. Police are also examining his personal relationships and other angles. Further probe is underway.
