BHOPAL: A 21-year-old girl accidentally killed herself when a
game of Russian roulette
with her father’s gun went tragically wrong in Gwalior district of
Madhya Pradesh
. Police said she shot herself playing the lethal game live on
WhatsApp video chat
with her friend in Delhi on Friday.
She placed a single bullet in the revolver, spun the cylinder, placed muzzle against her head, and pulled the trigger, said an officer.
The deceased has been identified as Karishma Yadav, 21, a resident of Gwalior’s Narayan Vihar Colony. Her father Arvind Yadav had retired from the post of subedar four months ago. Her parents had gone to Chitrakoot at the time of incident.
Her elder brother was in the market when she made a video call to her Delhi-based friend showing her the revolver.
“There was only one bullet in the chamber when she kept the muzzle on her temple and said 'let's try my luck,’" said a police officer.
When her brother returned home, she was lying in a pool of blood. He took her to a hospital where doctors sent her for an MRI and found a bullet in her skull. She was declared dead 72 hours after her admission, said police.
“We came to know that she was having a video chat with her friend in Delhi. We spoke to her friend who said that they were talking when she took the gun and started playing with the gun. Call got disconnected suddenly and the Delhi girl didn’t realise what would have happened in Gwalior,” said Sudesh Tiwari, Gwalior TI who is investigating the case. Karishma was also telling her friend during the conversation that weapons are dangerous. He said he would see if there was mishandling of the weapon by her father.
