BHOPAL: A Mumbai bound

Air India flight

was forced to make an

emergency landing

immediately after take off on Wednesday morning after a bird hit the aircraft.

Flight 634, which took off from the

Raja Bhoj airport

at 8.15am, landed back safely after the incident.

All passengers on board the aircraft have been shifted to hotels.

"A bird had sucked in the right side engine. After 5 to 6 minutes of take off, we received information that the flight is returning," said Vishrut Acharya, area manager of Air India in Madhya Pradesh.

"The engine is being serviced. We will make sure all passengers are flown to their respective destinations today," he added.

According to airport authorities, a Delhi-Mumbai Air India flight has been diverted to Bhopal which will carry the passengers to Mumbai. The flight will arrive at Raja Bhoj airport at 2.20pm.

Notably, last month an Air India flight had witnessed tyre burst at the Raja Bhoj airport. The Incident had taken place on the morning of January 6, when Delhi-Bhopal AI 435 landed at the airport and it was found that one of the tyres had some problem. There were 95 passengers on the aircraft.
