Techie alleges cheating by man she met on matrimonial site

BENGALURU: A 27-year-old software engineer has accused an

RT Nagar

resident, whom she met on a matrimonial site, of sexually exploiting her several times.

The Marathahalli resident alleged that the man, who had promised to marry her, was already married but hid the fact from her.

The woman told police that she uploaded her profile on shaadi.com website and received a proposal from

Farhat Nishat

alias Aijaz Hussain, a resident of RT Nagar and private firm employee. He befriended her through regular phone calls. The duo discussed their marriage over phone and the accused asked her to meet him near

Forum Mall

in

Koramangala

.

“She met him on July 14 first time and he agreed to marry her. Later, he took her to a hotel near the mall and began a physical relationship with her. Later also, they met at the same hotel on July 28, August 10 and September 7,” a police officer said.

After September, the woman could not reach Farhat as he had changed his contact number. She managed to trace Farhat’s residential address in RT Nagar and went there to meet him. But to the woman’s shock, it turned out that he was already married. She realized that she had been cheated by him and hence, approached Marathahalli police on Wednesday.

“We have registered a case under the provision of IPC sections 493 (cohabitation caused by a man deceitfully inducing a belief of lawful marriage), 417 (punishment for cheating) and 420 (cheating) against the accused person. We will transfer the case to

Adugodi

police station for further investigation based on the place of crime occurrence,” police said.

Adugodi police said they have been informed about the case orally by their Marathahalli counterparts and would start investigation once they get case-related documents.
