Bengaluru: Chief minister Siddaramaiah, on Wednesday, rejected accusations of "vendetta politics" concerning the newly established committee of ministers which has been tasked with reviewing progress of investigations into various scams by the previous BJP administration.
The CM said the committee's purpose is to expedite investigation into these cases and ensure appropriate action is taken against wrongdoers. "During the assembly session, I mentioned 21 scams by the previous BJP govt. The cabinet subcommittee was formed to expedite investigations and advise the govt on necessary action,"
Siddaramaiah said.
He clarified that while inquiry commissions have been established for specific cases, such as the sub-inspector recruitment fiasco, the 40% commission scandal, Covid-19 irregularities, and Bitcoin, not all cases have such commissions. The cabinet subcommittee has been asked to provide a report in two months.
On BJP's claims of vendetta politics, Siddaramaiah asked, "What sort of politics are they indulging in regarding the Muda site allotment case against me? We do not engage in vendetta politics. Our focus is on penalising wrongdoers."
Home minister G Parameshwara, who will lead the committee, said the panel is expected to meet this week. "Our aim is to ensure no case is neglected," Parameshwara said. He said the committee was formed to accelerate the process, transitioning from departmental to cabinet-level oversight.
