She reached the service road near Bommasandra flyover around 9.30am when she sought to overtake the road roller. The mirror of her two-wheeler brushed against the road roller’s wheel. Laya fell down and came under the wheel,” police said, adding that the driver fled the scene.
Eyewitnesses told police that the driver was unaware of the tragedy until others alerted him. “Even after the girl came under the wheel, he continued to drive. Other road users screamed at him and some bikers blocked his way. The driver realized something was wrong and stopped the vehicle. He got down, saw the girl and escaped,” eyewitnesses told police.
Laya is survived by her businessman-father Lokesh Reddi, mother Geeta and a younger brother who goes to high school.
