Celebrate Sankranti in traditional way at Suggi Huggi fest

Bengaluru: If you want to be part of Sankranti festivities in a traditional way or if you want your kids to experience rural landscape, including bullock cart ride, plan an outing this weekend to Jakkur Ground, off Kempegowda International Airport Road.
Suggi Huggi, a cultural extravaganza that aims to acquaint tech capital residents with life in villages, is being organised by revenue minister Krishna Byre Gowda (Byatarayanapura MLA) and his team in association with The Times of India from Jan 10 to 12. "This festival is a heartfelt tribute to the state's rich cultural heritage, promising an unforgettable Sankranti experience for all the visitors. We want everyone to come with their families to enjoy the harvest festival of India," said Krishna Byre Gowda.
Now in its fourth edition, Suggi Huggi continues to grow in popularity. Last year's event welcomed over 10k visitors and this year, the turnout is expected to be much higher. The festival features a mix of traditional music, dance and cultural activities that capture the essence of state's traditions.
This year's celebration has new additions with tournaments of kabaddi and tug-of-war, alongside the much-anticipated Avarebele Mela, which was a huge hit last year. The festival will also host 100+ stalls, showcasing a wide range of cultural highlights, including millets, organic food stalls and puppet shows. Visitors can explore authentic village games, participate in cultural programmes and immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere.
Back by popular demand, bullock cart rides remain crowd favourite, along with kite flying. Festive delicacies like pongal, sugarcane and groundnuts will be offered to visitors for free throughout the day.
The celebrations will also feature a stand-up comedy by Sonu Venugopal and music concert by Vasuki Vaibhav. With free entry, Suggi Huggi is the perfect way to celebrate Sankranti with family and friends. For more details, call: 7259310666 or 8951661646
