BENGALURU: A day after an
SBM cashier
hanged himself, upset with some television channels falsely implicating him in
money conversion rackets
after
demonetisation, the bereaved family said on Thursday that they would legally fight the TV channels and internet news portals that aired the false reports. Gopalraj G, Raviraj G's brother, told TOI the false news had forced his brother to take the extreme step.
“My brother's colleagues, including the assistant general manager, are shocked over the death and false news. After completing the post-death rituals, we will begin a legal war against those media houses which are responsible for my brother's death,“ he said.
“I could see that Raviraj was depressed after the news broke out. He was a soft-hearted man, he was devastated,“ Gopalraj said.
Police officials again visited Raviraj's branch on KR Road on Thursday and interacted with the bank staff, seniors and others.
Police also took a written statement from bank officials, including the AGM, saying there were no allegations of any irregularities against Raviraj.
“There was no internal departmental enquiry against Raviraj or any others in the currency exchange issue.News of CBI officials visiting our branch and questioning Raviraj are also false. We are shocked over the incident and still trying to digest the fact that Raviraj, who had worked with us for 25 years, is no more,“ the statement read.
