Missing farmer identified by DNA test 55 days after murder; 2 booked
Pilibhit: The murder case of a 22-year-old farmer whose skeletal remains were identified through DNA analysis has been solved 55 days after he went missing. An FIR was registered on Sunday evening against two men in connection with the killing in Nabadia Durjanpur village under Seramau North police station, and they were taken into custody on Monday for questioning.Raghunandan Kumar had gone missing on Oct 20, following which a missing person report was lodged. On Dec 8, a human skull and bones were recovered from an agricultural field outside the village. Suspecting the remains to be of the missing farmer, police sent bone samples along with blood samples of his two brothers for forensic examination. The DNA report later confirmed the identity.Following the confirmation, the victim's elder brother, Chunni Lal, submitted a written complaint naming two youths from the village, both around 25 years old, accusing them of murdering Raghunandan. Based on the complaint, a case was registered under BNS sections 103 (murder) and 238 (causing disappearance of evidence of crime).Seramau North SHO Sanjay Kumar said the murder was the result of a love triangle involving the deceased, the two accused and a woman. On Diwali, the accused allegedly took Raghunandan from his home on the pretext of throwing a liquor party. After he became intoxicated, they allegedly killed him with a sharp-edged weapon and dumped the body in a sugarcane field.
