Pilibhit: A 16-year-old girl and two boys aged 16 and 17, all students of reputed schools in Pilibhit, allegedly ran away from their homes in the early hours of Monday after taking away cash, a motorcycle and mobile phones, police said.
The girl, a Class X student at a well-known college, allegedly left home around 4am, along with two boys studying in the same class at another school in the city. The trio had studied together in the same school till Class IX, but the girl's parents had shifted her to another college after that.
Police said one of the boys, a 17-year-old, took away his mother's mobile phone and a motorcycle. The second boy, aged 16, allegedly took cash amounting to Rs 1.75 lakh from his home. The girl allegedly removed the SIM card from her father's mobile phone, which was used for internet banking, before leaving.
Officials believe the three minors fled on the motorcycle. Based on a written complaint filed by the girl's father, an FIR was registered under BNS Section 137(2) (kidnapping). The complainant alleged that the two boys had abducted his daughter by luring her away. A search operation has been launched, with police using electronic surveillance to trace the trio.
Sungarhi police station SHO Naresh Kumar Tyagi told TOI that an attempt was made on Monday morning to carry out a monetary transaction using the girl's UPI-linked account, but it failed due to a technical issue. Efforts were on to safely locate all three minors, Tyagi said.
