Bareilly: Two-time BJP MLA from Faridpur constituency Shyam Bihari Lal died after a cardiac arrest while attending a meeting at the Bareilly circuit house on Friday.
Lal, who turned 60 on Thursday, was a professor of history at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University in Bareilly. He was attending a meeting chaired by animal husbandry minister Dharampal Singh in connection with SIR-related matters.
During the meeting, Lal complained of chest pain and discomfort. Officials rushed him to a private hospital. Doctors said efforts were made to revive him, including CPR for nearly an hour, but his condition did not improve.
Chief minister
Yogi Adityanath conveyed hi condolences to Lal's family. In a post on X, he said Lal's sudden death was deeply saddening and extended his sympathies to the family.
Lal is survived by his wife, Manjulata, two daughters and a son.
