Drunk man sets brother’s motorcycle on fire, 4 of family injured

Pilibhit: Four members of a family suffered severe burn injuries after a motorcycle's petrol tank exploded when it was allegedly set on fire by their relative inside their house in Gas Chauraha area of Pilibhit city around 3 am on Sunday, police said.Police said that Laxmi Narayan Rathor, a fruit vendor, allegedly set his brother's motorcycle ablaze under the influence of alcohol. The explosion took place when the motorcycle's owner, Dammar Singh, 42, his wife Yashoda Singh, 36, and their nephews Rajan Singh, 21 and Rahul Singh, 19 attempted to douse the flames.Hearing their cries, other family members and neighbours rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Autonomous State Medical College where doctors referred Rajan and Rahul, who sustained 70% burns, to a higher medical facility due to their critical condition.Sungarhi station house officer (SHO) Naresh Kumar Tyagi said that Dammar's sister-in-law Meera Singh has filed a complaint against Laxmi, who is on the run. "Police are inquiring into the matter and will register an FIR after completing the preliminary investigation," he said.
