Pilibhit: A case was registered against five members of a family on Friday for allegedly torturing a 22-year-old woman over additional dowry demands and repeatedly kicking her in the lower abdomen, leading to miscarriage.
The woman said in her police complaint that she got married in Bareilly district on April 2, 2025. She alleged that despite adequate dowry being given at the time of marriage, her husband and in-laws began demanding Rs 5 lakh in cash and a motorcycle within days.
As per the complaint, her husband, who is engaged in solar panel installation work, sought additional money for business purposes and had earlier borrowed Rs 1 lakh from her father but later refused to return it.
