Pilibhit: A 22-year-old man and his parents were charged on Tuesday night for allegedly kidnapping a 16-year-old girl from Aspur village in Pilibhit district.
As per the complaint filed by the girl's father, the incident occurred around midnight on Dec 21 when the family had gone to sleep. He alleged that the food consumed by the family was laced with an intoxicant, leaving them unconscious at the time.
The family realised the girl was missing the next morning and searched, but she could not be traced. Gold and silver jewellery, apart from Rs 25,000 cash, were also missing from the house. Villagers later informed the girl's father that she had been abducted by Vishal Rathaur, a resident of the same village. When he approached Rathaur's parents, Shambhu Dayal and Krishna Devi, he was allegedly abused and threatened. He further claimed that they admitted their son had abducted the girl.
Ashok Pal, SHO of Madhotanda police station, said an FIR was registered based on the written complaint under BNS Sections 137(2) (kidnapping from lawful guardianship), 87 (abduction of a woman with intent related to forced marriage), 352 (intentional insult), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation).
