Empty coach catches fire at Nanded railway station

CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: Fire broke out in an empty luggage-cum-guar van coach stationed at Nanded maintenance yard on Tuesday.

The incident caused chaos for a brief time at the station as passengers witnessed flames and smoke coming out of yard.

Chief Public Relations Officer, South Central Railway, Ch Rakesh said the fire was completely brought under control within 30 minutes of the incident.


"There was no damage to any other coaches. Further probe is on to ascertain the reason behind the fire," he said.


The incident did not affect the movement of goods and passenger trains at Nanded station, railway authorities said.
