Aurangabad: Devashish Jayant Tupkary, a 12th std. science student from Aurangabad, was awarded the National Bal Shree Award, 2016 in Creative Scientific Innovation. He was honoured by Human Resource Development minister, Smruti Irani a fortnight ago, at Vighyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
Devashish received this award for Creative Scientific Innovation among 10 candidates selected from across the nation.
"I was the only candidate from Maharashtra. After succeeding in the first level tests in Aurangabad, I appeared for second west zone level at Goa. The third, and national level examination was at National Bal Bhavan, at New Delhi," he said.
Devashish's parents are doctors. "He has been an all-rounder student since class I. He successfully cleared NTSE, MTSE and is a recipient of Homi Bhabha Young Scientist award and National Maths Olympiad," said his father Jayant Tupkary, a paediatrician.
"He is planning to pursue either science or maths, and in interested in research," said Devashish's mentors Shilpa Bhave and Manisha Deshmukh.
