US ambassador to visit Punjab in near future

: US Ambassador to India Kenneth Juster is likely to visit Punjab in near future, informed press officer at the US embassy America Gregory Porter while talking to TOI on Thursday.

Porter was on a familiarisation tour to Punjab ahead of Juster’s visit.

He said the ambassador’s parents had come to India in 1960s and they had clicked beautiful shots and visited Golden Temple. “I believe the ambassador would like to visit the same places,” he said .

Porter denied any possibility of the US offering asylum to Sikhs and Hindus of Afghanistan as being demanded by various bodies after

suicide attack on July 1, in which left 19 persons had died.

Visiting press officer also met industrialist Suneet Kochhar during his visit.

He also expressed the possibility of holding camps in Punjab to make people aware of the fraudulent travel agents who promise US visa against hefty amounts.
