Triple murder sends shock waves across Punjab village

Giving details, senior superintendent of police, Amritsar rural, Parampal Singh said that the bodies have been identified as Kartar Kaur, 80, her daughter Harmeet Kaur, 50, and grand daughter Dilpreet Kaur, 28.

He informed that Kartar Kaur had three sons Gurdial Singh, Kulwant Singh and Jaswinder Singh. Gurdial Singh was at Rishikesh doing sewa (voluntary service) while the other two sons had died. Jaswinder Singh’s two sons Amarbir and Parneet Singh lived in the same village.

A local resident of the village informed that the women were last seen on July 3 in the village. He informed that on Thursday when no one responded from the house, villagers broke open the door.

Parampal confirmed that the villagers informed the police party that they had last seen the ladies on July 3 adding that all three of them were strangulated to death.

The preliminary investigations revealed that Amarbir and Parneet had differences with Kartar Kaur over share of a land.

He informed that senior police officers, forensic and technical teams rushed to the spot and begun investigations adding that no arrest had been made so far.
