Manish Tewari writes to Punjab CM for installing electrified fencing to prevent crop damage in Kandi areas

: Senior Congress leader andAnandpur Sahib MP Manish Tewari
has urged thechief minister Capt Amarinder Singh
for early implementation of the project of low voltage electrified wire fencing along the Kandi belt to prevent wild animals from damaging the crops.Tewari has also sought the early execution of the plans to set up industrial zone along the Kandi belt, most of which falls within the Anandpur Sahib parliamentary constituency.
“In the Kandi areas of Punjab there is a serious problem of damaged crops because of the menace of wild animals running amuck and our government remains committed to curb the menace of wild animals in the Kandi area,” he wrote in the letter while referring to the chief minister’s earlier announcement on the matter.
He said during the Parliamentary Election campaign the CM told him that a possible holistic solution to the above mentioned could be a 309 kilometres electrified fence with low voltage current running through it that stretches from one end of the Kandi region to the other.
Tewari expressed confidence that the Punjab government under Capt Amarinder’s leadership would be able to find funds for this project failing thereby the central government could always be requested to fund the project.
The MP also urged the chief minister to constitute the Kandi Area Development board for the holistic development of the area with representation of MPs and MLAs.
