As part of its

Hindu Sanathana Dharma Prachara

, TTD started Sri Venkateswara Gosamrakshanashala in 1956. At present there are over 3,000 cattle among which 600 breeding cattle include desi breeds including the Gir, Sahiwal, Ongole, Kangeyan and the Punganur breeds.

Following the directions of EO Dr KS Jawahar Reddy IAS, TTD is mulling the idea of sustaining the productivity of indigenous breeds as well as to enhance milk production by adopting embryo transfer technology.

The proposed project is aimed at improving the genetic potential of dairy cattle located at SV Goshala with a technique called embryo derived pregnancies (EDP - IVF-ET).

This technology will not only help to increase the productivity of the animals but also reduces the risks of disease transmission by producing calves with superior germplasm.
