Prayagraj: The process of online application for Combined State/Superior Subordinate Services, popularly known as PCS examination- 2024 started from Monday. Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has released advertisements for recruitment to 220 posts of PCS. The last date for depositing online examination fee is January 29, 2024 and the last date for accepting the online application has been fixed as February 02, 2024, while the last date for correction/amendment in the online application is February 09.
Before applying online, it has been made mandatory for the candidates to do One Time Registration (OTR) and obtain the OTR number.
Till now 16,00,161 candidates have received OTR numbers. Although the Commission issued an advertisement for recruitment to 220 posts of PCS, there is a probability of increasing the number of posts. As a rule, till the release of the result of preliminary examination, all the new posts received by the Commission will be included in PCS Recruitment-2024.
On the basis of this examination, the Commission will recruit various types of posts including Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Block Development Officer, Assistant Divisional Transport Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Commercial Tax.
Only those candidates who will be minimum 21 years of age and maximum 40 years of age as on July 1, 2024 will be considered eligible to participate in the recruitment. Relaxation of five years in the maximum age limit will be admissible for SC, ST, OBC category candidates, skilled players of classified sports of Uttar Pradesh, state employees, teachers and employees of basic education, aided secondary schools.
The preliminary examination of PCS-2024 will be conducted in 54 districts of the state including Prayagraj. The first question paper will be of General Studies of 200 marks, which will have 150 questions and the second question paper will also be of 200 marks, which will have 100 questions. Merit will be determined on the basis of the first question paper and the second question paper will be qualifying, in which it is mandatory to score a minimum 33% marks. It is must for candidates to appear in both the papers.
The main examination of PCS will be of 1500 marks. There will be a total of six question papers of General Studies and each question paper will be of 200 marks. Whereas, General Hindi and essay exam will be of 150-150 marks. The fifth and sixth question papers of General Studies will be UP special, in which questions related to Uttar Pradesh will be asked. Interview will be of 100 marks.
