Traffic snarls on Shastri bridge as motorists enter wrong lane

Prayagraj: The partial closure of Shastri bridge between Jhunsi and Daraganj triggered snarls on both the sides of the bridge during peak hours on Thursday.

However, the traffic police authorities asserted that a section of motorists, who jumped off the lane, caused inconvenience to other commuters. The traffic cops handled the situation carefully, they said. The police have advised commuters to drive in their own fixed lanes.

A senior traffic police official said that one lane of the bridge, scheduled to be closed for 43 days from June 3, was partly opened for two wheelers. Although the agencies concerned have launched its repair work and it was opened for light movement till the repair work was taken up. Moreover, additional policemen have been assigned to streamline the vehicular movement during peak hours.
