Govt removes Pushkar Nagar Palika chairman

Ajmer: The state government on Saturday suspended the chairman Kamal Pathak on charges of misuse of power and appointed Shiv Swaroop Maharishi the new chairman of the Pushkar Nagar Palika. BJP's Swaroop was working as the vice-chairman in the Nagar Palika of Pushkar.Kamal Pathak is from BJP and had won the chairman election for the second time in Pushkar. "Pathak has been removed on false complaints of Congress councilors and the Congress government who connived with local congress leaders," said Maharishi after taking the charge of chairman. He added that at present there are Mehangai Rahat camps going on in the town and therefore it is not possible to keep the chairman post vacant.Here in Pushkar, the MLA Suresh Rawat is from BJP who consecutively won the seat in the state assembly by defeating former state education minister of Congress Naseem Akhtar. "There was already a tussle between Naseem Akhtar and local BJP Nagar Palika board and then the entry of RTDC chairman Dharmendra Rathore intensified politics," said a local Congress leader.
