Acid thrown at woman for refusing to marry

Ajmer: A 23-year-old man threw acid on the face of a woman after she declined to marry him, here on Wednesday. Police said that the woman is a post-graduate and was working as a house help for an old woman who lives alone. The accused, who works as a photographer at weddings, went to the house where the woman worked and first threatened her, but when she still refused to marry him, he threw acid on her face and fled. Ramganj station police arrested the accused within 2 hours.The woman was taken to JLN Hospital where she is under treatment.Doctors at the hospital said that acid was thrown on the woman’s face and she tried to wash it away with water. She has suffered burns and is under treatment. Deputy SP (south) Ramchandra Choudhary said that the incident took place in Ashaganj colony near Sant Kanwar Ram School when the accused, Ashish Rajoria alias Harsh, resident of Gulabbari at Alwar Gate, went inside the house where the woman worked and started shouting at her to marry him. When the woman refused, he threw acid on her face.
