Second Steel Bridge Constructed in Ahmedabad

The second steel bridge for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project has been successfully erected in Ahmedabad over the Cadila bridge, marking a key milestone in the high-speed rail corridor. The bridge ensures uninterrupted progress of the corridor’s infrastructure development.

2/10

Bridge Specifications – Length and Weight

The newly constructed bridge spans 70 metres and weighs 670 metric tonnes. Fabricated in Navsari, the massive steel structure was transported to Ahmedabad using specialised heavy-duty trailers, showcasing the scale and precision involved in bullet train infrastructure projects.

3/10

Strategic Location Over Cadila Bridge

Erected over the Cadila bridge in Ahmedabad, this steel structure is critical for the bullet train corridor. Its location ensures seamless integration with existing rail infrastructure and supports the planned high-speed rail alignment across urban and industrial zones.

4/10

Assembly Process and Elevation

The bridge was assembled adjacent to the railway tracks and elevated 16.5 metres above ground. This method ensured safety, precision, and minimal disruption to ongoing transport activities while maintaining alignment with the corridor’s engineering standards.

5/10

Part of 28 Bridges Along the Corridor

The bridge is one of 28 steel bridges planned along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor. Gujarat will have 17 bridges, while Maharashtra will have 11, ensuring smooth high-speed rail operations and connectivity across the states.

6/10

Fabrication and Transportation

Fabricated in Navsari, the bridge’s components were carefully transported to Ahmedabad using specialised trailers. The operation demonstrates advanced logistical planning and engineering expertise, highlighting India’s capacity to handle large-scale high-speed rail infrastructure.

7/10

Milestone for Bullet Train Project

The erection of the second steel bridge is a major milestone, signalling steady progress in the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project. It reflects the project’s adherence to timelines and readiness to meet India’s first high-speed rail operational standards.

8/10

Enhancing Corridor Safety and Efficiency

The bridge has been designed and constructed to meet stringent safety and engineering standards. It will support high-speed rail traffic, reduce potential bottlenecks, and enhance the overall operational efficiency of the corridor.

9/10

Boosting Gujarat’s Infrastructure Capabilities

The bridge construction demonstrates Gujarat’s growing infrastructure capabilities. From fabrication to transport and assembly, the project has created employment, boosted local expertise, and set benchmarks for large-scale steel bridge construction in India.

10/10

Upcoming Bullet Train Milestones

With the second steel bridge completed, focus shifts to subsequent bridge erections and station-area development. These milestones are key to ensuring timely commissioning of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor and delivering a world-class bullet train experience.
