NFSU has trained personnel from 96 countries: Govt
Gandhinagar: The state govt said on Sunday that the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Gandhinagar has gained international acclaim with personnel from 96 countries receiving training on investigation and security. The institution operates 13 campuses domestically and internationally, the govt added.
Established in 2009 in Gandhinagar under the tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was then Gujarat chief minister, NFSU achieved the status of 'Institution of National Importance (INI)’ in Oct 2020.
An official statement said, “So far, representatives from 96 countries have received high-level forensic science training here. Many countries have requested the govt to establish an NFSU campus,” the statement said.
To expedite scientific crime investigation and present accurate evidence in court, NFSU has developed state-of-the-art mobile forensic investigation vans manufactured in India. These vans are operational 24/7 with skilled experts and special forensic kits. Over 300 such mobile services are operational in more than 17 states and Union Territories in the country, the govt said.
NFSU has also established a Forensic Innovation Council and a Forensic Innovation Center and through the project, more than 20 Make-In-India products prepared for forensic investigation by the central govt are being exported to countries like the US, Australia, Israel, Singapore, and in European nations.
Moreover, a special Center of Excellence for Nutritional Testing for Sportspersons (CoE-NSTS) has been launched to test athletes’ nutrition and detect prohibited substances, the govt stated.
