AHMEDABAD: A 44-year-old man was beaten to death by six labourers over a dispute over allotting work at the under-construction railway station for the high speed rail project or bullet train in Sabarmati on Sunday.

Vindhyachal

Singh, who stayed at RPB barrack number 10 and worked as a civil foreman in BL Kashyap and Sons Private Limited. Singh had been working for the firm for around three years.

According to the FIR registered with Sabarmati police, Singh was given responsibility of allotting work to labourers. His colleague and an eyewitness to the murder, Damodar Singh, said that one of the accused, Sanaul Shaikh, had a quarrel with Vindhyachal over the allotment but was pacified with the intervention of colleagues.

At 8am on Sunday, Damodar saw Sanaul and others including Mohammed Jabbar Shaikh, Shubhankar Mandal, Raju Shaikh, Sanjay Mandal and Golam Momin running towards Vindhyachal with iron rods, sticks and other tools.

Damodar said that he saw Sanaul and others hitting Vindhyachal, leaving him severely injured. As Damodar began screaming to save Vindhyachal, Sanaul and other five fled the spot.

After that, Vindhyachal was taken to a nearby private hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Sabarmati police registered a case of murder against six persons and began an investigation.

An official of Sabarmati police said that accused were on the run and various teams of police were searching for them. Vindhyachal’s postmortem report confirmed that he died due to severe injuries caused by the beating.
