Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel has asked officials of the roads and buildings department to take up the repair of roads damaged due to rain on an urgent basis. Sources said that the CM expressed concern over the inconvenience to citizens because of damaged roads and directed that they be repaired before the Navratri festival.
Briefing reporters after the cabinet meeting in Gandhinagar on Thursday, state govt spokesperson Rushikesh Patel said that 4,172 km of roads were damaged in the recent spell of rain, of which 2,429 km had been repaired.
He added that patchwork and repairs of the remaining 1,743 km of damaged roads will be completed within the next few days.
