First phase of census operation launched in Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad: In accordance with the central govt’s guidelines, the city census department of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation initiated the first phase of the population census, known as ‘House Listing and Housing Census,’ starting from June 1.
Approximately 13,000 enumerators and supervisors have been appointed to work across an estimated 10,700 blocks in the first phase. The appointed enumerators and supervisors will visit the blocks (areas) assigned to them in person. A layout map of the area will be prepared to understand the geographical situation and ensure no house is missed.
To ensure precise identification of all residential, non-residential, institutional, and vacant houses in the city, houses will be numbered sequentially. A systematic list of each house will be prepared, noting the purpose of use (residential, shop, office, or other).
Primary details regarding the condition of the house, availability of drinking water, electricity, sanitation facilities, drainage, cooking gas, and vehicles and other physical assets available in the house will be collected. The name of the head of the family residing in the house and the preliminary number of members will be recorded.
