AHMEDABAD: A major controversy erupted after three girls studying in the higher secondary section at St Xavier's School Loyola Hall in Memnagar complained to the principal about a sports teacher sending them indecent messages on Instagram. The girls complained that the teacher, Raviraj Chauhan, sent them indecent messages telling them to send him 'hot photographs' and asking them to meet him outside the school alone.

Sources said after these students and parents complained to the principal, the management launched an investigation into the matter promising that if the teacher is found guilty, the management will take strict action against him.

"We have received complaints against the sports teacher, Raviraj, from three girls studying in the higher secondary section. We have initiated an inquiry and will also question him. If we find him guilty, we will take strict action against him," Father Francis Macwan, the head of the school management told TOI.

Sources said the students were shocked by the messages and decided to take the matter to the principal. They met the principal on Tuesday and on Wednesday. They were assured that the management would look into the matter and take strict action against the teacher if he was guilty.

Sources said Chauhan had earlier been suspended for a long time by the school on similar complaints from girl students. In that incident, Chauhan had asked girls to send him pictures on WhatsApp and to meet him at a secluded place. Sources said Chauhan was retained as he had close relations with a former principal of the school.

The teacher was earlier accused by girl students of molestation during basketball and other sports training. The management had been turning a blind eye to his misdemeanours due to his connections with influential people, sources said.
