AGRA: A 29-year-old rape accused, carrying a reward of Rs 25,000, escaped from police custody at the district hospital in Mathura on Friday.
Police stated that the accused, Manoj Singh, was arrested after an encounter on Thursday night and had been shifted to the hospital after being shot in the legs during the encounter. Multiple police teams were dispatched across the district, and adjoining districts were alerted.
The accused allegedly raped a 65-year-old woman by offering her a lift on his bike, taking her to an isolated place, and raped her before fleeing.
Mathura SP (City) Dr. Arvind Kumar said, “Police teams are searching for him, and several raids have been conducted at multiple locations. He will be arrested soon.”
