Chetan Hansraj: TV's hottest villian turns a year older

One of the most popular villains on Indian television, Chetan Hansraj was born on June 15, 1974.

Versatile, witty, lively, creative and inquisitive – his strong presence in the television industry over the last 12 years has made us realize that Chetan possesses all the happy traits of a true Gemini. The Bandra boy was born and brought up in Mumbai. He completed his schooling from Jamunabai Nursee School in Mumbai and studied B.Com at Mithibai College. Chetan’s mother is a doctor and father is a businessman.

Chetan started his career as a child artiste and has appeared in a large number of ad-films. As a college-goer, he stepped into modeling and later, acting. At the age of 15, Chetan has starred in B.R. Chopra’s 'Mahabharat' as young Balram. He got his first major break as Garv Sachdev in Balaji’s ‘Kkusum’ but rose to fame with ‘Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii’ as Shashank (Sasha). (Photo: Sachin Gokhale)

Having played mostly grey shade characters, Chetan has also acted in a slew of popular historical and mythological dramas on TV including ‘Dharti Ka Veer Yodha Prithviraj Chauhan,’ ‘Kahaani Hamaaray Mahaabhaarat Ki,’ ‘Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev’ and ‘Jodha Akbar.’ In March 2015, he quit the show ‘Jodha Akbar’ in which he used to play Haider Khan, apparently unhappy about being lied about his role in the show, by the production team.

Sharing his views on the same, he took it to the microblogging site Twitter where he posted:

“Quit my show 2 days ago , so unhappy with the way i was lied to about my role .. this is so disgusting”

Chetan Hansraj, wife Lavinia Pereira and son Ethan:

The duo got married in 2004 and their love story is one romantic-fun tale. Once upon a night, Chetan fought with his friends and decided to go clubbing alone. There, he met Lavinia through common friends. The two started dating and partying together and that’s how they fell in love with each other.

“I made a ring out of silver foil and gave it to her. Tears were rolling down her cheeks and she told me that it meant more than a real ring,” quotes Chetan.

Two years after their marriage, they were blessed with their son, Ethan (Photo: Shantanu Das)

Apart from being an excellent actor, model, sportsperson and a ‘daddy cool,’ Chetan is a revered businessman. In 2007, he set up 'Chilli Production House' with an aim to produce reality game shows. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of the adventure sports company, 'Action Paintball India.'

Chetan not only turns a year older, but also a year hotter and macho! Here’s wishing a very happy birthday and tonnes of success to one of our favorite actors who we love seeing as a villain on TV…
