Budget speeches have gotten longer

This year the

finance minister

Arun Jaitley capped his budget speech at 166 paragraphs. Though he spoke for close to two hours, this is not the most he has had to say in a budget speech. His 2014

speech

was the longest ever with 253 paragraphs. Pranab Mukherjee’s 2012 budget speech was the second longest with 220 paragraphs followed by P Chidambaram whose 2003 and 2002 budget speeches had 196 and 192 paragraphs respectively.
