VinGroup to launch Green SM EV taxi service in India: Ola, Uber rival incoming!

Vietnam’s Vingroup is set to enter India’s rapidly growing ride-hailing market with its Green SM electric taxi service. It will be launched officially on June 05, 2026 in New Delhi. The move will position Green SM as a fresh rival to cab aggregators such as Ola and Uber.

The company is expected to begin operations in the Delhi-NCR region before expanding to other major metropolitan cities. The brand’s latest move signals a much broader mobility strategy for the country. Instead of focusing only on private buyers, VinGroup is now targeting the high-visibility fleet mobility space through Green SM.

Green SM is the electric ride-hailing and mobility arm of Vietnam’s Vingroup ecosystem, which also includes VinFast. Internationally, the service is also known as GSM or Green and Smart Mobility.


Unlike traditional aggregator-based taxi platforms, the India operation is expected to follow a fleet-owned and company-managed model. This means the operator will have tighter control over the vehicles, drivers, charging infrastructure, service standards and vehicle maintenance.

The electric car that is set to be used for this fleet has already been spotted on Indian roads. By putting its electric vehicles directly into daily ride-hailing operations, the brand could potentially familiarise Indian customers with its products at a much faster pace.
