Tesla Model Y gets massive Rs 10 lakh price-cut! Check variant, new prices
Tesla has revised its India lineup for the Model Y electric SUV. The company has launched the new 2026 Model Y Premium RWD trim while simultaneously dropping the top-spec Long Range Premium RWD variant from sale. The base Model Y now becomes significantly more affordable, receiving a massive price cut of over Rs 10 lakh compared to the discontinued long-range Premium RWD version.
The newly launched Tesla Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive is priced at Rs 50.89 lakh, ex-showroom, while the earlier Long Range Premium RWD variant, which has now been discontinued, carried a price tag of over Rs 67 lakh. Tesla will now continue with a simplified two-variant lineup in India comprising the five-seat Model Y Premium RWD and the six-seat Model Y L Premium AWD.
The new Model Y Premium RWD becomes the entry point into Tesla’s India portfolio and undercuts the larger six-seat Model Y L by around Rs 11.1 lakh. Deliveries for the electric SUV are scheduled to begin from July 2026.
Inside the cabin, this EV features an all-black interior theme, a larger 16-inch touchscreen with updated UI. Apart from the standard black cabin theme, Tesla is also offering a new ‘Zen Grey’ interior option. The Model Y Premium also offers 2,138 litres of storage space along with power-folding seats and seating for up to five occupants.
In terms of performance, this electric SUV can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 5.9 seconds and delivers a claimed WLTP-certified driving range of up to 500 km on a full charge.
Tesla has also revealed ownership benefits of the new variant. The company says buyers can purchase the Model Y Premium RWD with EMIs starting from Rs 39,990 with a down payment of Rs 6 lakh. The company added that its Home Charging Program is now active across all states in India, allowing owners to charge their vehicles conveniently at home.
Alongside the standard Model Y Premium, Tesla also continues to offer the larger six-seat Model Y L in India. Launched last month, the Model Y L comes with a claimed WLTP range of up to 681 km.
