MG Majestor vs Toyota Fortuner Legender: Engine, features compared
MG Motor India is gearing up to launch its new SUV, the MG Majestor in India. Once launched, the model will compete against the Toyota Fortuner Legender. Pre-bookings for the model are now open for Rs 41,000. Here’s how the two stack up in terms of engine, features and overall package.
In terms of pricing and variants, the MG Majestor is expected to start from around Rs 40 lakh, ex-showroom, and will be offered in three trims: Sharp 4x4, Savvy 4x2 and Savvy 4x4. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in May 2026. The Toyota Fortuner Legender, on the other hand, is already on sale in two variants (4x2 and 4x4) with prices ranging from Rs 42.1 lakh to Rs 47.5 lakh, ex-showroom.
Under the hood, the Majestor comes with a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine producing 215 hp, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It also gets a 4x4 system with all-terrain management software, offering up to 10 selectable drive and terrain modes.
The Fortuner Legender uses a larger 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine that produces 201 hp, along with 420 Nm of torque in manual form and 500 Nm in automatic guise. It is available with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes. The SUV also benefits from a 48V mild-hybrid system and offers multiple terrain modes in its 4x4 configuration.
In terms of dimensions, the Majestor measures 5046 mm in length, 2016 mm in width and 1876 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2950 mm. In comparison, the Fortuner Legender stands at 4795 mm long, 1855 mm wide and 1835 mm tall, with a 2745 mm wheelbase.
When it comes to features, the Majestor comes equipped with dual 12.3-inch displays for infotainment and instrumentation, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-speaker JBL audio system, three-zone climate control, and powered front seats with heating, cooling and massage functions. Other highlights include a panoramic sunroof, dual wireless chargers, 64-colour ambient lighting and a gesture-controlled powered tailgate.
As for safety and driver assistance features, it gets Level 2 ADAS functions such as adaptive cruise control, collision warning, autonomous emergency braking and lane-keeping assist. It also includes six airbags, electronic stability control, hill assist systems and a 360-degree camera.
The Fortuner Legender, meanwhile, gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, an 11-speaker JBL sound system, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, ambient lighting and a semi-digital instrument cluster. On the safety front, it offers seven airbags, stability control, ABS with EBD and hill assist, among others.
