Mercedes-Benz
on Monday announced that it would launch 6 new
Mercedes-EQ
models by 2022. The German automaker is on an electric offensive after its production network at the Sindelfingen plant gets electrified.
The second EQ model after the EQC will be the electric luxury sedan, EQS. The
Mercedes-Benz EQS
is expected to hit the markets in the first half of 2021. The
EQS
will be produced in Germany.

The second model on the agenda is the all-electric compact SUV, Mercedes-Benz
EQA
, which has already entered production at the Rastatt plant in Germany and will soon enter the production line in Beijing, China by 2021.

The third model on the agenda is the all-electric compact SUV, Mercedes-Benz EQB. The Mercedes-Benz
EQB
is looking forward to a production launch in 2021 at the Kecskemét plant in Hungary and the Beijing plant in China.

The fourth model on the list is the Mercedes-Benz EQE, a business sedan that will enter production at Beijing in 2021. Two more SUV variants, EQS and
EQE
enter production in 2022 at the Tuscaloosa plant in US.

Apart from the EVs, the German automaker will also boost its battery production network in Germany whereas the SUV battery systems will be produced in plants in Germany, Poland and China. The US plant will begin battery production for EQS and EQE starting from 2022.
“With its ‘Electric First’ strategy, Mercedes-Benz is consistently on the path to CO₂ neutrality and is investing heavily in transformation. Our vehicle portfolio becomes electric and thus also our global production network with vehicle and battery factories. We intend to lead in the field of e-mobility and focus in particular on battery technology. We are taking a comprehensive approach, ranging from research and development to production, and also including strategic cooperation,” said Markus Schäfer, Member of the Board of Management, Daimler AG.
