Bollywood actor Kunal Khemu has brought home a new luxury electric SUV. He has purchased the Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology, aka electric G-Class. The actor was recently spotted taking delivery of the car, pictures of which have been shared by the dealership on its Instagram handle. Here’s a quick look at all the key details you need to know about this model.

The Mercedes-Benz G 580 is currently among the most talked-about luxury electric SUVs globally. Despite switching to an electric setup, the G 580 continues to retain the signature design that has made the G-Class popular. The SUV features a boxy upright stance, squared body panels, circular LED headlamps and muscular wheel arches.

Powering the Mercedes-Benz G 580 are four independently controlled electric motors, with one motor mounted near each wheel. Together, the setup produces 587 hp and a massive 1,164 Nm of torque. The carmaker has also equipped the electric SUV with several advanced off-road technologies. One of the standout features is the ‘G-Turn’, which allows the SUV to perform a 360-degree rotation.


The luxury SUV uses a ladder-frame construction and gets a low-mounted battery pack. Power comes from a 116 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, and Mercedes-Benz claims a WLTP-certified driving range of up to 473 km on a single charge. Using a fast charger with support for up to 200 kW charging speeds, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in around 32 minutes.

Inside, the electric G-Class features twin 12.3-inch digital displays, the latest MBUX infotainment system, connected car technology, premium upholstery, ambient lighting and multiple driver assistance systems.
