2026 Audi Q7 unveiled: 299 hp diesel engine and captain-seat option!
Audi has taken the wraps off the all-new third-generation Q7. As part of this update, the model gets a comprehensive redesign, a tech-laden cabin, and more seating flexibility. Here’s a quick look at all the key details that you need to know.
One of the biggest talking points is the introduction of a six-seat layout with captain seats in the second row. Buyers can now choose between five-seat, six-seat, and seven-seat configurations. The six-seat version is aimed at customers looking for a more premium rear-seat experience, while the seven-seat model remains the practical family-focused option.
In terms of design, the new Q7 features a much bolder design language. Up front, it features a large octagonal grille with a new honeycomb-inspired pattern. Slim LED DRLs sit at the top, while the main headlamp units are positioned lower down in the bumper, creating a split-headlamp setup. The sculpted bumper, large air intakes, and silver lower trim further give it a fresher look.
From the side, the SUV gets a clean profile with chrome window surrounds, roof rails, and large alloy wheels. Audi offers 20-inch wheels as standard, with sizes going up to 23 inches. The new Q7 can also be equipped with soft-close doors and fully powered door operation as an optional feature.
At the rear, Audi has fitted new digital OLED tail lamps connected by a full-width light bar. Customers can choose from multiple digital lighting signatures. The rear section also features an illuminated Audi logo, roof spoiler, chunky bumper, and dual exhaust outlets.
Inside, the cabin has received a major overhaul. The dashboard features a triple-screen layout, including a curved OLED display and a dedicated passenger screen. Audi has also redesigned the centre console, which now houses wireless charging pads for two smartphones, larger cup holders, and additional storage spaces. There’s also a new four-spoke steering wheel, extensive use of wood and leather trim, and improved materials.
Other features include a panoramic sunroof with switchable transparency, while other highlights include a head-up display, connected car technology, voice assistant functionality, and access to Audi’s app store. The SUV is also available with a Bang & Olufsen premium sound system featuring 22 speakers and 4D audio technology.
Audi has updated its voice assistant as well. The system can control navigation and vehicle functions, answer general queries, and even connect to ChatGPT if it cannot provide an answer on its own.
The five-seat version offers up to 806 litres of boot space, which expands to 2,075 litres with the rear seats folded. In the seven-seat configuration, luggage capacity stands at up to 722 litres behind the second row and increases to 1,980 litres when the seats are folded.
The new Audi Q7 is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine offered in two outputs: 245 PS/500 Nm and 299 PS/630 Nm. Both versions feature Audi’s MHEV Plus mild-hybrid technology, which can provide an additional boost of up to 24 PS and 370 Nm while also enabling short periods of electric driving at low speeds. Additionally, the diesel engine is compatible with HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) fuel, which can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 95 percent compared to conventional diesel.
