BMW M 1000 XR launched in India at Rs 45 lakh: Gets same engine as S 1000 RR

BMW Motorrad India has launched the BMW M 1000 XR in the Indian market. The bike will be available in the M Competiton variant and is priced at Rs 45 lakh and will be bought in India via CBU (a completely built-up unit). Interested customers can book the bike at all BMW Motorrad India-authorised dealerships from today and the deliveries are slated to begin next month i.e., June 2024.

The BMW M 1000 XR is based on the BMW S 1000 RR and is essentially an adventure sport tourer motorcycle. The bike features split LED headlights with integrated DRLs, a small windscreen and plenty of carbon fibre bits everywhere. It gets carbon fibre wheels, side panels, front wheel cover, and a lot more. The M 1000 XR also gets special high-gloss black paint with BMW M division colours splattered across the bike.

The frame is suspended by a USD fork with ten-step adjustments for rebound, compression and preload adjustment. At the rear, it gets an adjustable mono shock. At the front, the bike gets 17-inch wheels with 120-section rubber and at the rear it gets 200-section. Braking duties are taken care of by twin discs at the front and a disc at the rear. The bike gets a 20-litre fuel tank and an 850mm seat height.

In terms of features, it gets a 6.5-inch TFT instrument cluster, OBD interface for the M GPS datalogger and lap timer, dynamic traction control, wheelie control, launch control, a pitlane speed limiter, brake slide assist function, heated grips, cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring and multiple ride modes - Road, Dynamic, Race, and Race Pro.


The bike is powered by a 999cc, inline-four cylinder engine that puts out 201bhp at 12,750rpm and 113Nm at 11,000rpm. This engine also does that duty on the S 1000 RR. The tourer also gets BMW’s ShiftCam variable valve timing/lift technology with titanium valves. The also gets a larger rear sprocket and shorter 4th, 5th and 6th gear ratios. BMW claims the bike can sprint from 0-100kph in 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 278kph.Discover everything about the automotive world at Times of India.
