‘Drug addict’ found dead at relative’s house in Phagwara
Phagwara: After a 26-year-old youth was found dead at a relative's house in Balmiki Mohalla near Subhash Nagar area, residents of the locality alleged that he died due to drugs. The youth at whose house he was found dead also revealed that he and the deceased consumed drugs on Tuesday evening, and in the morning he found him dead.
Area resident Jyoti said that Vishal was her cousin, and he had come here from Amritsar to know the well-being of her father. "However, he went out and did not return. Gaurav, at whose house he stayed during the night, knocked at our gate and said that Vishal was not getting up. We knew that Vishal was an addict," she said.
"We were roaming around together, and he consumed a drug and then he slept at my home. He had drugs with him. He consumed and also gave me a dose. I asked him to leave, but he refused," said Gaurav while speaking to a Punjabi web channel.
Gaurav said that he was himself an addict and was also getting treatment. He said that he was a relative of the host family. Area resident advocate Rimpy Gill said that the problem of drugs continuedto prevail in the area. She said that mohalla residents knew the main supplier of the drugs, who also lived in the area.
Phagwara City police station SHO Inspector Amarpreet Kaur said that the family of the deceased youth was not ready record to their statement.
