new delhi: the ill-fated cessna c-90 aircraft, which crashed near kanpur killing congress leader madhavrao scindia and seven others, was declared fit for flying only six days ago. "yes, the plane was declared fit for flying recently," civil aviation minister shahnawaz hussain told pti here. he said the flight release check was carried on the eight-seater chartered aircraft on september 25.
the aircraft, owned by jindal strips, was manufactured in 1977 and had acquired the airworthiness certificate from the directorate general of civil aviation on april 24 this year for a period of six months, ministry sources said. a 400-hour maintenance check was carried out on the aircraft on july 21.
